জাতির পিতা বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানের প্রতি গভীর শ্রদ্ধা নিবেদনের মাধ্যমে গত ৭ মার্চ ,মঙ্গলবার ওয়াশিংটন ডিসিতে অবস্থিত বাংলাদেশ দূতাবাসে যথাযোগ্য মর্যাদায় ঐতিহাসিক ৭ই মার্চ পালিত হয়েছে।খবর বাপসনিউজ ।

সকালে যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে নিযুক্ত বাংলাদেশের রাষ্ট্রদূত মোহাম্মদ ইমরান কর্তৃক দূতাবাস প্রাঙ্গণে আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে জাতীয় পতাকা উত্তোলনের মধ্য দিয়ে দূতাবাসের দিনের কর্মসূচি শুরু হয়। এ সময় মিশনের কর্মকর্তা-কর্মচারীরা উপস্থিত ছিলেন।

পরে দূতাবাসের কর্মকর্তাদের উপস্থিতিতে রাষ্ট্রদূত দূতাবাসের বঙ্গবন্ধু কর্নারে অবস্থিত জাতির পিতার আবক্ষ মূর্তিতে পুষ্পস্তবক অর্পণ করে তার প্রতি গভীর শ্রদ্ধা জানান।দিবসটি উপলক্ষে রাষ্ট্রপতি মোঃ আবদুল হামিদ ও প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা প্রদত্ত বাণী পাঠ করে শোনান মিনিস্টার (পলিটিক্যাল-1) ও দূতালয় প্রধান দেওয়ান আলী আশরাফ এবং কাউন্সেলর (পলিটিক্যাল-3) শামীমা ইয়াসমিন স্মৃতি।

পরে ঐতিহাসিক ৭ই মার্চের ভাষণের উপর একটি ভিডিও চিত্র প্রদর্শন করা হয়।

দিবসটির তাৎপর্য তুলে ধরে পরে বঙ্গবন্ধু অডিটোরিয়ামে এক আলোচনা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।

আলোচনায় অংশ নিয়ে রাষ্ট্রদূত ইমরান ঐতিহাসিক ৭ই মার্চ উপলক্ষে বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানের প্রতি গভীর শ্রদ্ধা জানান এবং বঙ্গবন্ধুর মহাকাব্যিক ভাষণের বিভিন্ন দিক তুলে ধরেন।

তিনি ৭ই মার্চকে বাঙালি জাতির ইতিহাসে এক অবিস্মরণীয় দিন হিসেবে আখ্যায়িত করে বলেন, ১৯৭১ সালের এই দিনে ঢাকার তৎকালীন রেসকোর্স ময়দানে বঙ্গবন্ধু সেই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভাষণ প্রদানের মাধ্যমে কার্যত স্বাধীনতা যুদ্ধের ঘোষণা দেন।

তিনি বলেন ঐতিহাসিক এই ভাষণের গুরুত্ব অনুধাবন করে জাতিসংঘের শিক্ষা, বিজ্ঞান ও সাংস্কৃতিক সংস্থা (ইউনেস্কো) এর বিশ্বের গুরুত্বপূর্ণ প্রামাণ্য ঐতিহ্যের তালিকা ‌‍‍‘মেমোরি অফ দ্য ওয়ার্ল্ড ইন্টারন্যাশনাল’ রেজিস্টারে অন্তর্ভুক্ত করেছে।

রাষ্ট্রদূত ইমরান প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনার নেতৃত্বে বঙ্গবন্ধুর স্বপ্নের ক্ষুধা-দারিদ্র্যমুক্ত সুখী-সমৃদ্ধ সোনার বাংলা গড়তে সবাইকে নিজ নিজ অবস্থান থেকে কাজ করার এবং নতুন প্রজন্মের কাছে মুক্তিযুদ্ধের সঠিক ইতিহাস তুলে ধরার অনুরোধ জানান।

বঙ্গবন্ধুর বিদেহী আত্মার মাগফেরাত এবং দেশের অব্যাহত শান্তি, সমৃদ্ধি ও অগ্রগতি কামনা করে এক বিশেষ মোনাজাতের মাধ্যমে দিনের কর্মসূচি শেষ হয়। অনুষ্ঠান পরিচালনা করেন ফার্স্ট সেক্রেটারি আতাউর রহমান।

Historic 7th March observed at Bangladesh Embassy in Washington DC

The Bangladesh Embassy in Washington D.C. observed the historic 7th March, commemorating Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s landmark speech in 1971 which was considered as the indirect declaration of Bangladesh’s independence.

The fiery speech of Bangabandhu on March 7 at a mammoth rally in the then “Race Course Maidan”, now Suhrawardy Udyan, inspired the freedom-loving Bangalees to fight and earn the long-cherished independence of Bangladesh in 1971.The day’s program of the Embassy started with the formal hoisting of the National Flag by Bangladesh Ambassador to the USA Muhammad Imran on the Embassy premises in the morning. Officials and employees of the Mission were present on the occasion.

Later, the Ambassador placed a floral wreath at the bust of the Father of the Nation at the Bangabandhu Corner of the Embassy in the presence of Embassy officials.

After laying the wreath, they stood in solemn silence for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memory of the great leader.

The messages issued on the occasion by President Md. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina were read out by Minister (Political-I) & Head of Chancery Dewan Ali Ashraf and Counsellor (Political-III) Shamima Yeasmin Smrite. Later, a video film on the historic 7th March speech of Bangabandhu was screened.

Afterwards, a discussion highlighting the significance of the day was organized.

Taking part in the discussion, Ambassador Imran paid deepest homage to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the occasion of the historic 7th March and highlighted different aspects of his epic speech.

He termed 7th March as the unforgettable day in the history of the Bengali nation and said on this day in 1971, Bangabandhu delivered the momentous speech at the then Race Course Maidan (now Suhrawardy Udyan) in Dhaka, effectively declaring the War of Independence.

Realizing the importance of the historic speech, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) has included the speech in its Memory of the World International Register, a list of the world’s important documentary heritage, he said.Ambassador Imran called upon all to work unitedly to build a hunger-and-poverty-free happy and prosperous ‘Sonar Bangla’ (Golden Bengal) as dreamt by Bangabandhu under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The day’s program ended with offering a special prayer seeking divine blessings for eternal peace of the departed soul of Bangabandhu as well as Bangladesh’s continued peace, progress and prosperity. First Secretary Md Ataur Rahman conducted the program.
